16 Norwegian Printmakers

September 8 – October 6, 1991

Maltwood Art Museum and Gallery

This exhibition contains a representative cross-section of contemporary Norwegian graphic art. For the last 20-25 years printmaking has played an important part in Norwegian art.

The exhibition includes 66 works by 16 of the major Norwegian printmakers of this period. The selection is meant to encompass several age groups, ranging from artists who received their training during or immediately after the Second World War  to those who came to the fore in the late 1970s. The emphasis is thus on the group of artists who were young in the 1960s and 70s.

The exhibition is circulated throughout Canada by the International Exhibitions Service of the Department of Communications on behalf of the National Museum of Contemporary Art of Oslo and the Royal Norwegian Embassy.
