Captured by Colour

November 7 – December 13, 1998

McPherson Library Gallery

Curated by Alexis J. Beringer

This exhibition features recent works by Alexis J. Beringer, developed over a period of three years. It is a conscious expression of the artist’s need to explore colour.

Situated between abstract expressionism and pure colour theory, my work of late is more contemplative and perhaps refined by more methodical processes… I am more conscious of a need to explore colour and pour paint over paper and canvas as the primary intent…I I am captured in my own body, defined by my culture and society and culture swirls and surrounds me.

-Alexis J. Beringer, October 1998
