Legacy Maltwood (at Mearns Centre – McPherson Library)
This exhibition features sculpture and photography by Gabriola Island artist Elias Wakan.
My work is an exploration of the aesthetics of form. I look for interesting solutions to challenging, geometrical problems, while making efficient use of materials. The charm of folding is watching the miracle of a third dimension tumble out of the basically two-dimensional paper, Mylar, or exposed x-ray. And the illusory shadows that surround these pieces suggest further forms that seem to come from yet a further dimension.
