Joan M. Ryan

July 2 – July 27, 1980

McPherson Library Gallery

An intriguing exhibition of Joan Margaret Ryan’s marbling art, taking an under-appreciated and over simplified medium to a new level.

When [marbling] is seen at all, it is usually the product of a sterile mechanical process, cheaply produced and devoid of feeling, for use in books sold in chain stores as objects d’art… Here, in these takes of Ryan’s, marbling is freed from all market-minded concepts.
