Throughout his career Glenn Howarth taught in fine arts programs across Canada including the University of Victoria, Banff School of Fine Arts, University of Saskatchewan, and Acadia University. He is remembered as a dedicated and passionate educator who shaped the experience of many students. He began the Victoria Drawing Academy in 1987 and ran it out of his long inhabited studio at 18 1/2 Fan Tan Alley until 1991. In the 1990s he was an instructor and artist-in-residence in the Computer Science department at the University of Victoria during his foray into computer graphic art, and demonstrated mastery in an emerging field of technology. He shared that knowledge with faculty and students, garnering enthusiasm in others by creating workshops and teaching tools to showcase the art and versatility of the software.
