ABOUT

The 1960s marked a growing cultural awareness and pride in the contemporary visual arts of Victoria. This online exhibition features 37 artists whose efforts to bring contemporary art to the forefront of BC’s capital city were realized through several key areas: social networks, the University Collection, and First Nations art. The artworks are drawn from the University’s permanent collection.

Based on the Legacy Art Gallery Downtown exhibition from April 2 – June 27, 2015

Guest curated by Emerald Johnstone-Bedell with contributions by Josie Greenhill, Gabrielle Landry, Jenelle Pasiechnik, Caroline Riedel, Kate Riordon and Naomi Shields
