LeRoy Jensen’s style exhibits a simultaneous expression of traditional and modern elements, driven by his classical training and philosophical studies in ontology. He was raised in China and Japan and travelled to Europe to study art in Copenhagen at the Royal Academy and in Paris at the studio of cubist artist Andre L’Hôte. Jensen moved permanently to BC in 1954 and eventually settled on Salt Spring Island in the 1970s where he taught art. He was also an environmental activist and found a kindred rebel in fellow artist Herbert Siebner who invited him to become a member of the Limners.
