Immigrating to Canada in 1953, Richard Ciccimarra’s artistic output was recognized for its haunting quality that was evidence of his inner melancholy. The inherited mannerisms of his former Vienna bourgeois upbringing not only influenced his elegant appearance, but also his internal desire to follow his aesthetic and poetic values. His painted drawings of the early 1960s were composed of sensitive lines evolved into collaged silhouettes with diminishing detail and opacity. Ciccimarra routinely exhibited, attended openings and wrote articles amongst his supportive artists friends, many of them members of the Limners artist group.
