Collaboration

This exhibition was curated through collaboration between the artists and guest curator Dr. Andrea N. Walsh.

The artists and Andrea Walsh met together in the summer of 2015 to begin planning the exhibition. See photographs of the first planning meeting in the slideshow below:

In the spring of 2016, the artists met again, along with Andrea Walsh, and Andy MacDougall and Erin Brillon of Wachiay Studio. The aim of this meeting was to plan a collaborative printmaking project. In keeping with the theme of the exhibition – bringing prints Out of the Frame – they decided to create large, transparent, layered panels to hang from the ceiling. These pieces deconstruct the typical print format – that is, consisting of multiple layers of ink overlaid on top of one another on a single piece of paper, and hung on the wall in a frame. The silk and Mylar panels were installed in the small gallery of the Legacy. See pictures of the final work, entitled Out of the Frame, below. Read the individual artist statements for each banner here.
